The University of Alicante has developed an innovative safety system for swimmers: AI.SmartBuoy, an intelligent marking buoy that incorporates advanced technology to prevent accidents at sea and improve emergency response.
Real-time rescue system
This buoy is equipped with an SOS button that allows swimmers in danger to send their exact location to the emergency service 112, enabling a faster and more effective response. It also features high-intensity LED lights that serve as an emergency signal, alerting lifeguards and nearby vessels.
Innovation for coastal safety
The modular design of AI.SmartBuoy allows the integration of additional sensors to monitor sea conditions, waves, and potential hazards in real-time. Currently, the system is under development, and the University of Alicante is seeking manufacturers interested in commercializing this technology.
